The Sea Dogs are getting ready to leave the hotel and head over to the ballpark for game of the series.

Last night, the Binghamton Mets had their second largest opening day crowd in franchise history (5,148) and beat Portland 4-3.

RHP Blake Maxwell will make his first Double-A start for Portland against RHP Dylan Owen.

PLAYING UPSTATE: Portland continues their 4-game series in Upstate New York, taking on
the Binghamton Mets in game 2 of the series on Friday night…The two teams will
finish out the 4-game set with back-to-back 1:05 PM starts…On Monday night, the
second-leg of the trip continues at New Britain Stadium against the Rock
Cats…The crowd of 5,148 last night was Binghamton’s second largest home-opener
in franchise history.

DH Lucas Duda drove in two runs for
the Mets, including the game-winner in the seventh inning, leading the B-Mets
to a 4-3 win…SS Argenis Diaz gave
Portland an early 2-0 lead with a bloop-double in the second inning, scoring LF
Aaron Bates and DH Jon Still…Binghamton tied the game in
their half of second on LF D.J. Wabick’s
2-run double to left field…LHP Adam
(1-0) worked three scoreless frames in relief to earn the win…RHP Chris Province (2-1) took the loss,
giving up three hits and one run…Duda produced an RBI single in the fifth and a
sacrifice fly in the seventh…LHP Roydrick
recorded the final five outs to convert his 4th save in
as many opportunities.


Binghamton pitchers combined to strike out 14 batters in the series opener…The
top two batters (Reddick and Khoury) in the lineup each fanned three times…RHP Fernando Nieve lasted only three
innings but fanned five, including the side (Reddick, Khoury and Anderson) to
start the game.

NOT THE BEST OF SITUATIONS: Portland went 2-for-13 with runners-in-scoring
position last night, both hits came with two outs…The ‘Dogs are hitting .169
(13-for-77) with RISP through the first eight games…3B Jorge Jimenez (2-for-4, RBI last night) is leading with a .444
average (4-for-9) with runners-in-scoring position…Jimenez has hit safely in
five straight games.

LHP Felix
faces RHP Jose Sanchez
in game three of the series tomorrow afternoon…Doubront will make his first
Double-A start on the road after fanning eight in his Double-A debut on April
13 against the New Britain Rock Cats…RHP Jose
picked up a quality start in his 2009 debut…The righty allowed
three runs on seven hits to beat the Trenton Thunder in game three of the
