Some notes from Hadlock
CLOSING THINGS OUT: The Sea Dogs conclude their 7-game homestand on Thursday night in game three
of their series against the B-Mets at Hadlock Field…Portland is seeking their
first series sweep of the season – the last came in a 3-game set against the
Harrisburg Senators at Hadlock Field (August 15-17, 2008)…After tonight’s game,
the ‘Dogs will play 19 of 29 games in May away from Portland, Maine.
A WRENCH IN THE ‘METS OFFENSE: RHP Jarod
Plummer (1-1) tossed 5.2 scoreless frames and recorded six strikeouts,
leading the Portland Sea Dogs to a 6-2 win over the Mets Wednesday night. Plummer stranded seven runners and worked
around a lead-off baserunner in 4 of 6 innings.
Portland scored four runs off losing pitcher RHP Jose Sanchez (1-3), tagging the righty for seven hits in 5 IP. RF Josh
Reddick (1st inning), 3B Jorge
Jimenez (2nd inning) and LF Aaron
Bates each had lead-off homers. CF Bubba Bell went 2-for-3 and drove in 2
runs, improving his streak to six straight games with a run batted in.

SPEAKING OF FIRST:
The Sea Dogs 18 home runs is tied for the most in the Eastern League with Erie
and Harrisburg…Portland has 11 of their 18 round-trippers to lead-off an
inning…Reddick has hit 5 of 6 homers with nobody on base…Jimenez has both of
his homers against the Binghamton Mets.
Plummer had the longest outing for a starter since RHP Junichi Tazawa pitched six innings against the New Britain Rock
Cats on April 14 at Hadlock Field…The righty notched his first win in the Red
Portland leads the league in hitting (.278), hits (172) and need to score twice
tonight to hit 100 runs for the season.
STARTERS: RHP Junichi
Tazawa will make his fifth start of the season and his third against the
Connecticut Defenders…Tazawa’s lone win came against the New Britain Rock Cats
on April 14 at Hadlock Field…The righty has suffered both losses against Connecticut,
including his 2nd on this homestand…RHP Brooks McNiven gets the starting nod for the Defenders, his 2nd
straight against Portland.
