The Sea Dogs and Binghamton Mets are getting ready for the series opener at Hadlock Field, below are some notes


NEW YORK THEME CONTINUES: The Sea Dogs and Binghamton Mets begin a 3-game series
on Monday night in Portland, Maine…Portland is playing game 4 of 13 straight
games against New York affiliates…Yesterday, the ‘Dogs and Thunder split a
doubleheader, but Trenton took 2 of 3 in the series…Binghamton has dropped two
straight but managed a split of their 4-game set in New Hampshire…The B-Mets
had won five straight games from April 12-16 before their 2-game losing streak.

NUMBER ONE: 1B Lars Anderson accounted for Portland’s lone run in game 1 of
yesterday’s twinbill by launching a solo-homer into the U.S. Cellular
Pavilion…The big-fly was the first homer hit at Hadlock Field this
season…Anderson has hit safely in 6-straight games and leads the team with five
extra-base hits (3 2B, 2 HR).

GREAT RELIEF: Portland’s relievers have combined for an ERA of 3.00 in 10 games,
picking up 4 of the 5 wins…RHP Eammon
Portice
notched his second win of the season on Sunday, and fanning four
batters over 2.2 IP…LHP Tommy Hottovy added
two scoreless frames and RHP Jason Rice converted
his second save of the season.

FINDING THE RIGHT PLACE: OF Jason Place
leads the team with 8 RBI, despite going 4-for-31 (.129) in nine games to
start the season…Place picked up his first Double-A triple in New Britain and
smacked a 3-run homer last Sunday against the Reading Phillies…The Sea Dogs are
second in the Eastern League with nine homers but Binghamton has smacked a
team-leading 15 in 11 contests.

WAS HIS DAY TO PITCH: RHP Casey
Kelly
made his Hadlock Field debut yesterday, hurling three scoreless
innings on two hits, no walks and two strikeouts…Kelly’s next start is later
this week in Trenton…RHP Stephen Fife fanned
four over 4 IP on three hits and two runs in his debut in Maine.

DO YOU REMEMBER HIM? Binghamton Manager Tim Teufel was a member of the 1986 World Champion New York
Mets…Teufel played 11 seasons in the Major Leagues and homered in game 5 of the

Portland and the B-Mets continue their 3-game
series tomorrow night beginning at 6:00 PM…On Thursday, the ‘Dogs hit the road
for a week long roadtrip against Trenton and Binghamton…Portland is the midst
of playing 13 straight games against New York affiliates.

any chance the Sox bring up Lars to hopefully kick start the BoSox offense?

I don’t think so…you want Lars to continue this run of success, I think Triple-A would be his next destination, that would be too much pressure right now.
