Tuesday before Game Time!

5:38 PM – Getting ready for the pre-game show, here is my interview with Andrew Dobies – dobies420.mp3 – Andrew was just traded to Chicago.

The Binghamton Mets are taking batting practice right now, the Sea Dogs just finished.  I talked with Ryan Kalish before last night’s game and he decided to roll down the pants near the shoes and not shoe his stirrups.

Notes from today

TRYING TO MAKE IT THREE: Portland seeks their 1st three-game winning
streak at home, taking on the Mets in the middle game of their 3-game set…The
‘Dogs are 2-2 on the homestand and have played error-free baseball in six
consecutive games…Through 11 contests, the Sea Dogs have a league-leading .990
fielding percentage (4 errors on 398 total chances)…Binghamton has scored the
most runs in the league (70) but has surrendered the most (71).

NOW SEVEN STRAIGHT: 1B Lars Anderson has homered in back-to-back games, both solo-shots
into the U.S. Cellular Pavilion in right field…Anderson has a 7-game hitting
streak, going 9-for-24 (.375) with 3 homers and 6 RBI…Last season, the
California native’s longest hitting streak was six games from August 23-28.

GREAT RELIEF: Portland’s relievers have combined for an ERA of 2.74 in 11 games,
picking up 4 of the 6 wins…Last night, RHP Robert Coello hurled three scoreless innings, retiring the first
eight batters until 3B Zach Lutz nailed
a double…Coello fanned four and earned his first Double-A Hold…RHP Bryce Cox worked a scoreless ninth.

SNAPPING OUT OF IT:
OF Ryan Kalish led off the season
with a solo-home run in Reading but hadn’t homered until his two-run blast in
last night’s game…Kalish reached base twice and picked up his first multi-RBI
game of the season…LF Chih-Hsien Chiang snapped
an 0-for-13 slump by singling in the third inning…2B Nate Spears picked up his first RBI since a homer on opening night.

HE’S BEEN TOUGH AGAINST THE METS: LHP Felix
Doubront
earned his second win of the season but his third in 7 career
starts against the Mets…The lefty pitched five innings on six hits, three runs,
two walks and two strikeouts (first start at Hadlock Field this season)…Last
night was Doubront’s 100th career start and the Sea Dogs’ 1000th
game as a Boston Red Sox affiliate
.

DO YOU REMEMBER HIM? Binghamton Manager Tim Teufel was a member of the 1986 World Champion New York
Mets…Teufel played 11 seasons in the Major Leagues and homered in game 5 of the
World Series off Bruce Hurst at
Fenway Park.

WHAT’S
