Former Assistant Trainer Chris Collins is here visiting old friends, he was the assistant trainer for Salem last year and for Portland in 2008.

ONE MORE BEFORE THE ROAD: Portland concludes their 6-game homestand with a 12:00
PM start against the Binghamton Mets…The Sea Dogs allowed a season-high 15 runs
on Tuesday night but did not commit an error for the 7th straight
game…CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis led the
offensive charge for the B-Mets, going 5-for-6, HR, 4 RBI and 2 doubles…SS Jose Coronado blasted a grand slam and
DH Nick Evans hit a 2-run homer…C Luis Exposito drove in two runs with a
double in the fifth inning.

THAT MAKES IT SEVEN: 2B Nate Spears pitched the ninth inning last night, allowing three
runs, two hits and one walk in his second career appearance on the hill…Spears
become the 7th position player in franchise history to pitch in a
game…Last July 29, Spears worked one inning for the Iowa Cubs (Triple-A)
against the Albuquerque Isotopes.

was traded to the Chicago White Sox before yesterday’s game for a
player to be named later or cash considerations…Dobies appeared in three games,
allowing one run over 5 IP…According to the Birmingham Barons (Double-A,
Southern League) website, Dobies has been assigned to their roster.

OF Ryan Kalish led off the season
with a solo-home run in Reading but hadn’t homered until his two-run blast in Monday’s
game…Kalish picked up his first multi-hit game of the season last night and
scored a run…1B Lars Anderson had
his 7-game hitting streak snapped by going 0-for-3 and 3B Ray Chang picked up his first RBI at Hadlock Field with a
bases-loaded single.

earned his second win of the season in the series opener, but his
third in seven career starts against the Mets…The lefty pitched five innings on
six hits, three runs, two walks and two strikeouts (first start at Hadlock
Field this season)…Monday was Doubront’s 100th career start and
the Sea Dogs’ 1000th game as a Boston Red Sox affiliate

DO YOU REMEMBER HIM? Binghamton Manager Tim Teufel was a member of the 1986 World Champion New York
Mets…Teufel played 11 seasons in the Major Leagues and homered in game 5 of the
World Series off Bruce Hurst at
Fenway Park.

Tomorrow night, the Sea Dogs begin a week long
roadtrip against Trenton and Binghamton…Portland is the midst of playing 13
straight games against New York affiliates…The Binghamton Mets will return home
and host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats before Portland heads to town on Monday.
