This was the scene a few minutes ago here at Waterfront Park in Trenton, NJ but the Sea Dogs and Thunder will play today.  Join me on the pre-game show beginning at 12:45 on the U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network or online at http://www.seadogs.com

CAN WRAP UP THE SERIES: Portland seeks their 3rd series win in the
finale of a 4-game set with the Trenton Thunder (Yankees affiliate) on Sunday
afternoon at Waterfront Park…The ‘Dogs have won 5 of their last 6 on the road,
and can clinch a .500 mark away from Hadlock Field this month with a victory today…After
going 9 straight games (April 10-22) without committing an error, Portland has
made three miscues in the past two games – all by SS Jose Iglesias…The opponent has made only one error in the past
eight contests.

COULD HAVE SCORED EVEN MORE: The Sea
Dogs had 14 baserunners in last night’s 5-2 win, going only 2-for-11 with
runners-in-scoring position…Trenton stranded 10 and went 4-for-17 with RISP…1B Lars Anderson and 3B Ray Chang each went 2-for-3 with a
double and two runs scored…LF Chih-Hsien
Chiang
went hitless in three at-bats (2 RBI) but his 6th inning
sacrifice fly proved to be the game-winning RBI.

FIRST IN THE BOOKS: RHP Stephen
Fife
(1-1) secured his first Double-A win, working a team-high 5.1 innings
on five hits, one run (unearned), three walks and four strikeouts…Fife held
the Thunder to just 2-for-9 with runners-in-scoring position…The righty left
the game in the fifth inning after an infield single by LF Damon Sublett.

A RAY OF LIGHT:
Chang’s single in the second inning extended his hitting streak to a
season-high six straight games…The former Pirate farmhand has made eight
consecutive starts at third base…OF Ryan
Kalish
has reached base safely to lead off the first inning in seven
consecutive games (five walks, single, home run).

AT LARGE:
RHP T.J. Large made his 2010 season
debut, working 2.1 scoreless frames and picking up a hold…Large was assigned to
Portland before yesterday’s game from Triple-A Pawtucket and RHP Santo Luis was designated for
assignment by the Boston Red Sox…Large was on the Pawtucket’s disabled list
from Opening Day.

BOMBS AWAY:
2B Nate Spears’ first hit in the Red
Sox system was a homer on Opening Night in Reading…Last night Spears crushed
his second homer, a solo-shot down the right-field line…The Sea Dogs are 11th
in team batting average at .211 but rank second in the Eastern League with 15
homers.
