Early Work

So what does that mean?  Well, when the Sea Dogs are at home they usually arrive at the field 6 to 7 hours before a 6:00 PM start to work on those little things that are so important.  For example, Hitting Coach Dave Joppie will throw soft toss to hitters that are working on certain mechanical adjustments.  During this series with Reading, the Red Sox have a host of instructors in town working with the players.  Chad Epperson is the catching instructor and he will work with Juan Apodaca and Luis Exposito.

Epperson will toss baseballs through a pitching machine and help the catchers work on their technique.  I asked Chad about roving instead of managing and he said “The schedule is a lot different and I get to pop home and see the family which is nice.”
