a bases-clearing double with two outs in the ninth inning, aiding the Sea Dogs
to a 4-2 come-from-behind win over the New Britain Rock Cats on Friday
night…RHP Eammon Portice (3-1)
fanned four over 2.1 IP to secure the win for Portland…RHP Bryce Cox stranded two runners in the ninth inning, retiring 1B Toby Gardenhire on a groundout to end
the game…Portland has won seven straight over New Britain and 12 of 13 dating
back to last season.

STRIKE THIS: LHP Felix Doubront took a no-decision, but
fanned a team-high nine batters over 5.2 IP…Portland struck out a season-high
14 and improved to 7-0 in starts made by Doubront…Tonight’s starter RHP Ryne Miller is making his second consecutive
start against New Britain.

OH BY THE WAY: Kalish has now reached base in 17 straight games
with his double in the ninth inning…RF Jason
Place
tied a season-high with three walks and scored the tying run on
Kalish’s double…2B Nate Spears reached
base safely in four of five plate appearances, but has reached base 20 times in
the last nine games.

NICE SAVE: Cox and RHP Jason
Rice
have combined to go 8-for-8 in save opportunities…The lone blown save
was charged to RHP Robert Coello on
April 14 at New Britain, but the Sea Dogs won the game 3-1 and Coello notched
his first win in the Red Sox Organization…New Hampshire’s RHP Danny Farquhar leads the Eastern League
with nine saves.

ON TRACK: LF Chih-Hsien
Chiang
picked up his first multi-hit game in Double-A by going 2-for-4 last
night…Chiang tied the game with a run-scoring single off LHP Tyler Robertson in the second inning…SS
Yamaico Navarro went 2-for-4 and has
hit safely in 11 of 14 starts this season…C Juan Apodaca has reached base safely in all 12 starts and is
hitting .366 (15-for-41) with one homer and 4 RBI.

OLD FRIEND: RHP Chris
Province
spent last season with the Sea Dogs, going 2-4 with a 2.67 ERA…Province
has struggled with the Rock Cats, but retired DH Luis Exposito on a fly out to end the ninth inning…Boston traded
Province in the off-season to the Minnesota Twins for RHP Boof Bonser.
