What are the chances?

Tonight at Hadlock Field, the Sea Dogs will be giving away Daisuke Matsuzaka Bobbleheads on the same night that he’s pitching at Fenway Park.  Daisuke rehabbed with the Sea Dogs last season at New Hampshire, and is the first of many great promotional nights at Hadlock Field this season.

THEY CAN HIT: The Binghamton Mets improved their #1 ranked offense
with 11 hits on Monday night, defeating the Sea Dogs 7-5 at Hadlock Field…RHP Casey Kelly took a no-decision, but
fanned a season-high seven batters…Kelly worked five innings, allowing five
hits and three runs…SS Jose Iglesias picked
up his first 4-hit game as a professional, and gave the Sea Dogs a 4-3 lead
with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning…SS Jose Coronado drove in three runs for the Mets, and CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 2-for-5 with 2
RBI.

ROSTER MOVE: 1B Anthony Rizzo was promoted to Portland yesterday
from High-A Salem…To make room on the roster for Rizzo, INF Ray Chang was placed on the temporary inactive
list…Rizzo is ranked the 8th best prospect in the Red Sox system
according to Baseball America…He was hitting .248 (29-for-117) with 5 homers
and 20 RBI with the Salem Red Sox.

LEADING IT OFF: 2B Nate
Spears
went 2-for-4, BB and scored twice in last night’s game…Spears has
reached base safely 29 times in the last 12 games, and leads the team in
on-base percentage (.436) and OPS (.846)…OF Chih-Hsien Chiang has a 5-game hitting streak: 7-for-17 (.412) with
7 RBI, and has an RBI in five straight games.

BACK-TO-BACK DECISIONS: RHP Santo Luis
picked up his first win in the Red Sox system on May 6, but took the loss
in the series opener…Luis pitched only one inning, yielding four runs on four
hits…Binghamton scored all four runs on two-out doubles by Coronado and
Nieuwenhuis.

TOP THE LEADER BOARD: OF Ryan Kalish
took over the team lead in RBI’s with two last night, improving his total
to 20…Kalish leads the club in homers (4), walks (21), stolen bases (8) and is
tied with Spears for the club lead in runs scored with 19…Portland is fifth in
the Eastern League with a .250 batting average, but Binghamton leads all E.L.
clubs in average (.273), runs scored (189), hits (296), doubles (73) and homers
(36).
