No Mike Cameron today

NOW THAT WAS CRAZY: The Sea Dogs used a 5-run eighth inning to beat the
Trenton Thunder, 11-8 on Friday night at Hadlock Field…Portland batted around
in the eighth, receiving only one hit (Jose
Iglesias
triple), five walks, but two wild pitches enabled runs to score…Iglesias
went 4-for-5, 3B Ray Chang went
3-for-4, RBI and RF Che-Hsuan had
three singles…Portland picked up a season-high 16 hits, and received homers
from CF Mike Cameron and 1B Anthony Rizzo.

 

PRODUCTIVE HITS: Cameron
is 2-for-8 in two games with Portland, nailing a run-scoring double on Thursday
night, and blasting a homer off the Dunkin Donuts Message Center in the series
opener with Trenton…The 37-year old outfielder left the game in the seventh
inning and was replaced by Matt Sheely.

 

MEDICAL HISTORY: Cameron is the 17th Major Leaguer to rehab with the Sea
Dogs and the
11th as a Red Sox affiliate: Ellsbury (2010), Jed Lowrie,
Daisuke Matsuzaka & John Smoltz (2009), David Ortiz (2008),
Lenny
DiNardo (2004 & 2006), Casey Fossum (2003), Chad Fox (2003), Wade Miller
(2005)
and Matt White (2003)…As a Marlins affiliate: Luis Aquino (1994), Chris Hammond (1994),

…In addition, Ellsbury and DiNardo were both members

IT’S BEEN A WHILE: Portland and Trenton last played on April 23-25 in
Trenton, but the Thunder won the series, taking 3 of 4 from the ‘Dogs…Trenton
defeated Portland on opening night, 4-2 in 11-innings with the next two days
postponed due to rain…The two division foes split a twinbill on April 18 -
Portland’s only twinbill of the season.

 

ROSTER MOVE: LHP Felix
Doubront
will make his Triple-A debut tomorrow night for the Pawtucket Red
Sox…RHP Jeremy Kehrt was assigned to
Portland before yesterday’s game and will make the start in game two of the
twinbill.

 

ALL ZEROES FROM THIS GUY: RHP Jason Rice
worked two scoreless frames on Thursday, and has not allowed a run in eight
consecutive appearances…Rice has yielded six runs this season, but five
happened over back-to-back appearances (April 20 & 23).
