Back in Reading where it started

The 2010 opener was at First Energy Stadium in Reading, PA, and the Sea Dogs won the game 10-5.  Tonight marks the return of Portland to Baseball Town. 

Notes for today:

BAGS ARE PACKED: The Sea Dogs open up a four-game series on Monday
night against the Reading Phillies from FirstEnergy Stadium…Portland’s only
series in Reading was the first four games of the season, but the Phillies
grabbed three of four…The Sea Dogs won the 2010 opener, beating Wednesday’s
starter RHP Vance Worley…Reading
took two of three from Portland on May 3-6 at Hadlock Field…The two teams are
scheduled to play a doubleheader on June 5 in Maine.

 

WHAT A WAY TO GO OUT: OF Mike Cameron led off the bottom of the
10th inning with a walk-off homer off RHP Paul Bush (0-2) to give the Sea Dogs a 7-6 victory…Cameron went
3-for-5, HR, RBI and a double in his final rehab stint with Portland…In three
games with the Sea Dogs, the 37-year old outfielder hit .385 (5-for-13) with
two homers and 3 RBI, and three doubles…The walk-off victory for Portland was
their first of the season, and the first since September 4, 2009, when OF Ryan Kalish blasted a solo-homer
against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

 

MEDICAL HISTORY: Cameron became the 17th Major Leaguer to rehab with the Sea
Dogs and the
11th as a Red Sox affiliate: Ellsbury (2010), Jed Lowrie,
Daisuke Matsuzaka & John Smoltz (2009), David Ortiz (2008),
Lenny
DiNardo (2004 & 2006), Casey Fossum (2003), Chad Fox (2003), Wade Miller
(2005)
and Matt White (2003).

 

STRANGE GAME: Portland took a 6-1 lead with six runs off RHP David Phelps in the fifth inning, but
Trenton scored five runs off LHP Mitch
Herold
in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at six…Herold allowed
five runs, five hits and three walks over 2 IP in his Double-A debut…The lefty
was assigned to Portland before yesterday’s game when RHP Jeremy Kehrt was reassigned back to High-A Salem.

 

STILL LEADING THE PACK: C Luis
Exposito
delivered a 2-run single in the fifth inning, and continues to
lead the Sea Dogs in RBI with 30…Exposito is the team’s leading hitter with
runners-in-scoring position at .278 (15-for-54).

 

IT WON’T BE LONG: Portland and Trenton will meet on June 1-3 at
Waterfront Park…The Thunder’s next trip to Hadlock Field is August 20th
when the two teams play a 3-game series
