A STINGING LOSS: DH Matt
Rizzotti
blasted a walk-off, 3-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning,
rallying the Reading Phillies to a 5-3 come-from-behind win over the Sea Dogs…Rizzotti
accounted for all five runs, tying the game at two with a 2-run shot in the
bottom of the third inning off RHP Casey
Kelly
…The Sea Dogs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third inning on consecutive
run-scoring singles by C Luis Exposito and
1B Anthony Rizzo…LF Chih-Hsien Chiang gave Portland a 3-2 advantage
in the eighth inning on a bases-loaded walk.

 

HE CERTAINTLY BATTLED: Kelly
remains winless in nine Double-A starts, but stranded nine runners over 5 IP
last night…Reading was 0-for-11 with runners-in-scoring position until
Rizzotti’s big fly in the ninth inning…RHP Bryce
Cox
(0-3) allowed the game-winning hit and blew his first save of the
season…RHP Michael Stutes recorded
the final four outs to earn his third win of the season.

 

THAT WAS THE FIRST: Portland had not lost on a walk-off win this season,
and suffered their first defeat when leading after eight innings (16-1)…Reading
clinched the season-series with last night’s win and have won six straight
against the ‘Dogs at FirstEnergy Stadium…The two teams will meet for the final
time on June 4-6, playing a four-game series in three days at Hadlock Field
(doubleheader on June 5)…Portland has won three road series this season – two
at New Britain and Trenton.

 

DOMINATED BY PITCHING: Portland has dropped six of their last seven road
games, and will finish May under .500 away from Hadlock Field…Breakdown of the
