Strasburg Story

Here’s a special to our blog today!

He Had To Start Somewhere by Matt McLaughlin (Sea Dogs Media and Broadcast Assistant)

As Stephen Strasburg continues to tear up the Major League record book
(41 strikeouts in his
first 4 starts), its easy to forget that he
started this season in Double-A with the Harrisburg Senators, whom the
Sea Dogs face tonight.

Strasburg made his first Double-A appearance for on April 11th, as the
Senators faced off against the Altoona Curve. Going 5 innings, Strasburg
gave up 1 earned run and struck out 8 batters. This would just be a
taste of things to come for the 21 year old.

In 5 starts with the Senators, Strasburg went 3-1, sporting a 1.64 ERA.
In his 22 innings pitched as a Senator, Strasburg struck out 27, while
giving up only 4 earned runs.

Though it was obvious that Harrisburg was just a stop on the way to the
Majors, it is still unbelievable to think that a potential National
League All-Star started the season in the same league the Sea Dogs play
in.
