Special to the Blog – Matt McLaughlin writes about New Hampshire

As Portland
and New Hampshire are in the midst four game series against each other,
here are some names on the Fisher Cats roster that Portland fans should
keep an eye on:
One of the most
highly regarded names in the Toronto system is pitcher Kyle Drabek.
Older fans may recognize the last name, as his father, Doug Drabek, won
a Cy Young award with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Once a prospect in the
Phillies system, the younger Drabek was involved in the Roy Halladay
trade between Philadelphia and Toronto. On Sunday night, Drabek no-hit
the New Britain Rock Cats.
Zach Stewart,
who pitched against the Sea Dogs earlier this series, owns a very high
ranking in the Toronto organization. Stewart has seen time with the Las
Vegas 51s, the Triple-A affiliate of the Jays last season.
Another top-5 prospect, David Cooper,
mans first base for New Hampshire. Cooper was the 17th overall
selection in the 2008 entry draft. He has already provided New Hampshire
with 11 home runs and 45 RBI.
Closer Danny
Farquhar
cracks the top 15. Ranked as the #14 prospect for Toronto,
Farquhar has already racked up 15 saves, tying him for second in the
Easter League. He’s struck out 39 in 33 games thus far. Farquhar has
finished 33 games this year, tying him for the second most in the E.L.
Eric Thames has provided the pop in
the Fisher Cats lineup. Ranking fifth in the Eastern League in home runs
(14 on the year), the 7th round selection in 2008 is listed as the #18
prospect. Thames has 61 RBI this season, good enough for second most
overall in the Eastern League.
Another bullpen
arm, Trystan Magnuson rounds out the list of prospects that New
Hampshire has on their squad. Through 43.2 innings pitched this year,
Magnuson has struck out 36. He is second in the Eastern League with 8
holds this season.
