Baseball, Bobbleheads and Birthdays

Hope that grabbed your attention…The Sea Dogs are in a tough stretch right now, they have dropped seven of 10 games, and have fallen into fifth place for the first time this season.  I first wanted to promote this great interview conducted by DJ Abisalih with New Hampshire’s Kyle Drabek, who pitched a no-hitter on Sunday –

Okay, now let’s focus on Bobbleheads – The Sea Dogs have done a great job with all different bobblehead giveaways during the years but I wanted to find out what fans thought

Tell me what former Sea Dog, Red Sox player or anyone you would want to see as a bobblehead at Hadlock Field – email me at seadogsradio@gmail.com

Notes for today:

TWO FOR THE VISITORS: The New Hampshire Fisher Cats made it two straight
wins to start the series, defeating the Sea Dogs 6-5 on Tuesday night at
Hadlock Field…Shawn Bowman finished
3-for-4 with a homer, 4 RBI and Travis
Snider
(MLB rehab assignment) went 4-for-5 with three doubles and one RBI…Casey Kelly (1-4) suffered the loss for
Portland, allowing six runs on seven hits over 5.1 IP but fanned eight batters
(career-high)…Chih-Hsien Chiang and Nate Spears each drove in two runs.

60 BEFORE THE BREAK: Luis
Exposito
picked up his 60th
RBI of the season in the first inning of last night’s game…The 60 RBI marks leads
the Sea Dogs and ranks third in the Eastern League…Salem’s Ryan Lavarnway leads the Red Sox system with 63 RBI,
Exposito is second, and Anthony Rizzo is third with 47 RBI between Salem
and Portland.

A FINISHER: Bryce
Cox
finished the game for the 27th
time this season, putting him in a tie for first in the category with three others,
including teammate Jason Rice…Cox also has the fifth highest number of saves in the
Eastern League with 10…Danny Moskos leads
the Eastern League with 17 saves but he was promoted from Altoona to Triple-A
Indianapolis two weeks ago.

NOT A PERFECT START…BUT:
B.J.
LaMura
earned the win last night for
New Hampshire, allowing all three runs in the first inning…LaMura yielded a
2-run double in the first inning to Chiang but finished his start by sitting
down the next 16 batters.

BOTH TEAMS WERE TWO-OUT WONDERS: Last night’s game featured nine of 11 runs scored with two outs…The Sea
Dogs scored all five runs with two outs (Chiang 2, Spears 2 and
Exposito)…Bowman drove in all four runs with two outs for the Fisher Cats and
tied Eric Thames for the team-lead in homers with 14.

BELOW .500: Portland is two games under
.500 for the first time since they began the season 1-3…The Sea Dogs have
dropped into fifth place for the third time this season, and trail the Eastern
Division leading Trenton Thunder by a season-high 11 games…New Hampshire holds
a 9.5 game advantage of the Sea Dogs for the second playoff position in the
division.
