Unexpected Off Day

The Sea Dogs now have two off days, after Saturday’s game with the New Britain Rock Cats was postponed due to rain. Portland and the entire Eastern League are off tomorrow for the Easter Holiday. So, the season is only 16 days old, and Portland already has four doubleheaders on the schedule. Keep in mind, they say April showers bring May flowers. Hopefully that will be the case. My whole view on this is simple – there’s nothing anyone can do about the weather. I always feel for the fans, who planned days to attend Hadlock Field, especially the little ones. My advice for those who had tickets for the rained out games, is to exchange them as soon as possible. Tickets may be exchanged for any game at Hadlock Field this season, based on availability.

So, with Saturday’s rainout, the Sea Dogs are now 0-2-3 in their first 5 series.

Alex Hassan had his 12-game hitting streak last night. It was the second longest hitting streak to start the season in franchise history. Julio Ramirez hit in 16 straight games in 1999, and Jeremy West started the 2005 season with an 11-game hitting streak.

Check out http://weei.radiotown.com/soxbooth/ for some of my interviews. I’d like to thank the Red Sox radio team for giving me this opportunity.

Friday at Hadlock Field field was a busy day before the game. Hannaford had their annual Little League Clinic on the field, and the Sea Dogs Kid’s Club was entertained by pitchers Kyle Fernandes and Blake Maxwell.

One last thing – don’t be fooled by a 5-8 start for the Sea Dogs. This team is very good, and I know this will be a special season.

Enjoy your Easter!
