Sea Dogs look for a new streak

SECOND HALF STRETCH: The Sea Dogs continue an eight game, seven-day stretch with the first of a three game series against the Reading Phillies tonight at 7:00 PM… Reading leads the season series 7-3 and took two of three from the ‘Dogs at Hadlock Field on April 27-29…With the Phillies in town, it marks the first time in 25 games that the Sea Dogs won’t be playing the Fisher Cats or Thunder.

ATTA BOY BOLES! WELCOME TO THE 700 CLUB: With the win in the night cap of Friday’s doubleheader, Kevin Boles earned his 700th career win as a skipper in professional baseball, and needs one more win for 100 in his career with Portland…Boles began his career in 2000 with the GCL Marlins and has the 700 wins over 11-plus seasons with nine different teams and four different franchises.

TEPERA DAZZLES, FISHER CATS SALVAGE FINALE 5-1: Ryan Tepera (3-1) tossed 5 and 1/3  no-hit innings en route to the Fisher Cats 5-1 win over the Portland Sea Dogs…Jackie Bradley Jr., had the first hit, an RBI single, in the sixth inning for the Sea Dogs…Matt Spring had the other hit for Portland with a leadoff double in the ninth…Chris Hernandez (4-8) gave up four runs, two earned, over five-plus innings to suffer the loss…Ryan Goins put the ‘Cats on the board with a two run single in the third inning…Joel Galarraga added two more with a two RBI single in the sixth…The Sea Dogs loaded the bases with two down via two walks and a hit by pitch in the eighth, but Bryce Brentz struck out to end the inning…The Sea Dogs took four of five from New Hampshire in the series.

THE BUTLER IS DOING IT: Over his last six games, Dan Butler is hitting 8-for-20 (.400) with a home run and five RBI…The backstop is also among the league leaders in throwing out attempted base stealers, ranking fifth at 32 percent (27-of-85)…Marquez Smith is also hitting .400 over his last 10 games (14-for-35) with a home run and nine runs scored…Smith had a season-high four hits on July 14th vs. New Hampshire

MONTHLY DAP: The Boston Red Sox have awarded RHP Brock Huntzinger with Minor League Pitcher of the Month honors and OF Jeremy Hazelbaker with Minor League Base Runner of the Month honors for the month of June…Huntzinger went 1-0, 1.80 ERA and two saves in 9 games in June…Hazelbaker hit .284 with 5 HR, 22 RBI, 6 2B, 9 BB and 7 SB.
