BETTER LATER THAN NEVER: The Sea Dogs are now 9-2 since the All-Star and are at an even .500 (15-15) in the last 30 games…Portland and New Hampshire wrap up the four game series this afternoon…The ‘Dogs have had success against the ‘Cats winning 14 of 21 so far this season…Portland and New Hampshire have five games remaining, all at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.

BRITTON BOUNCES BACK, ‘DOGS ROLL 9-1: The Portland Sea Dogs jumped on the board with three in the third and tallied six more runs in the 9-1 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats…Drake Britton didn’t have command of his fastball early, but made due with great off-speed deliveries and held the ‘Cats to one run in seven innings…The lefty found his fastball late and finished with eight strikeouts…Matt Spring hit a towering fly ball to left in the third that floated out for a three-run homer and gave the Dogs the 3-0 lead…In the fifth, Reynaldo Rodriguez followed suit and delivered a moonshot, two-run homer to left and put Portland up 6-1…Marquez Smith finished with four hits for the second time in a week, and picked up two RBI in the game as well…Aaron Kurcz delivered two scoreless innings to close out the game on the mound…Rodriguez finished with three hits, three runs score and three runs driven in.

PITCHING HELPING THE WAY: The Sea Dogs five-game win streak is their longest since last June 1-7, when they won six straight games…Portland’s staff has been scoreless in 44 of their last 49 innings pitched…Since the All-Star break, they’ve compiled a 2.91 ERA (31 ER/96.0 IP).

TOP OF THE ORDER HAS BEEN TOP NOTCH: Over the past six games, four players have hit in the top three places in the order and combined to go 28-for-78 (.359) with six home runs, 22 RBI, 24 runs scored, seven doubles, and two triples…Marquez Smith and Jeremy Hazelbaker have led the charge over the three games with 21 of the 28 hits.

MONTHLY DAP: The Red Sox awarded Brock Huntzinger with Minor League Pitcher of the Month honors and Hazelbakerwith Minor League Base Runner of the Month honors for the month of June…Huntzinger went 1-0, 1.80 ERA and two saves in 9 games in June…Hazelbaker is hitting .277 (43-for-155), 10 HR, 33 RBI since June 1st.

WHAT’S ON DECK: Monday Portland returns home for a short three-game homestand against the Trenton Thunder (Yankees affiliate) that kicks off at 7:00 PM…Following the three gamer, the ‘Dogs hit the road to Binghamton for a four-game series, the final series at NYSEG Stadium this season.
