Killer Bees do it again…Lineups, Notes versus Erie

A SWING THROUGH THE WILD WEST: The Sea Dogs continue a six-game homestand on Saturday night against the Erie SeaWolves (Tigers affiliate) from Hadlock Field…Portland is 3-1 during a 15-game stretch against the Western Division…The Sea Dogs have won 22 of their last 36 games at home…With a win today, they’ll have won 10 of their last 11 home series.

KILLER BEES HELP ‘DOGS BLAST ‘WOLVES 5-1: Jackie Bradley Jr. and Bryce Brentz both went deep in the first inning and the pitching was again outstanding as the Sea Dogs took down the SeaWolves 5-1 Friday night…Bradley’s home run came on the first pitch of the inning against the lefty Ramon Garcia and was ticketed for right-center…Brentz hit a missile over the Maine Monster three batters later…Jeremy Kehrt (6-3) took the hill for the Sea Dogs and was phenomenal in his fifth straight start…Kehrt tossed six scoreless frames before turning it over to the ‘pen…Chris Balcom-Miller gave up a run on a hit batter and two wild pitches, but that was all the SeaWolves could muster.

NOT THAT SPELLS RELIEF: Over the last 14 games, the Portland bullpen has allowed just 11 runs over 62.0 innings (1.60 ERA)…Portland’s staff has been scoreless in 129 of their last 153 innings pitched…Since the All-Star break, they’ve compiled a 2.89 ERA (64 ER/199.2 IP)…Brock Huntzinger is 3-0, 2.29 ERA (12 ER/47.2 IP) as a reliever, and has converted three straight save opportunities.

CONTINUING TO LEAD THE WAY: Jackie Bradley Jr. has hit safely in 31 of 43 starts (reached in 36 of 43) with Portland…The Richmond, Virginia native is leading all Red Sox Minor Leaguers with a .333 batting average (134-for-403) between Salem and Portland with 9 homers and 56 RBI…Is ranked among minor league hitters in the following categories: 6th in On-Base percentage. (.441), 1st in doubles (40) and T-8th in walks (74)…Hazelbaker’s17 homers are second in the organization, three behind Mauro Gomez’s 21.

HOW ABOUT THE NEW GUY: Michael Olmsted, who leads all Red Sox minor leaguers with 16 saves, has not yielded a run in three Double-A appearances…Olmsted has fanned 11 batters in just six innings, allowing two hits and one walk…On Saturday, he earned his first hold in Portland’s 5-1 win at Binghamton.

WHAT’S ON DECK: Sunday afternoon, the Erie SeaWolves (Tigers affiliate) conclude their only appearance in Maine with the finale of a three-game weekend series at 1:00 PM…Following the final game, the Sea Dogs hit the road to take on the Aeros and SeaWolves for six games at their respective ballparks.
