‘Dogs postponed on Monday night vs. Trenton

The Sea Dogs and Trenton Thunder were postponed on Monday night due to rain…The two teams will make the game up on August 31 as part of a doubleheader beginning at 5:00 PM…The ‘Dogs are coming off their first series win since taking 3 of 4 from New Hampshire at Hadlock Field on May 20-23

SUNDAY FUNDAY: For the second straight Sunday on the road, the Sea Dogs scored 10+ runs, defeating the Fisher Cats 13-5 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium…Travis Shaw knocked in a career-high 5 runs, blasting a grand slam in the in the fourth…Tony Thomas homered for the second straight day and finished with 4 RBI…Despite allowing 9 hits and 5 runs, RHP Anthony Ranaudo improved to 8-2…Michael Almanzar went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and J.C. Linares had three hits an RBI…Ryan Dent had a season-high three hits and Garin Cecchini finished 2-for-5 with 3 runs scored…Mike McCarthy earned his second save (4 IP).

CECCHINI HAS ADJUSTED: Cecchini has reached base safely in all 8 Double-A starts, and has a hit in 7 of 8 games (5 multi-hit games)…The Louisiana native leads all Red Sox Minor Leaguers in average at .352 (87-for-247)…Cecchini is hitting .367 (12-for-33), 3 RBI and 7 walks with Portland.

TIED AT THE TOP Ranaudo joins Binghamton’s Logan Verrett as the lone 8-game winners in the Eastern League…Binghamton’s RHP Rafael Montero (pitching in Triple-A) is leading the Eastern League with a 2.43 ERA, Ranaudo is now fifth at 2.68…Almanzar is tied for the league lead in extra-base hits with 35.

HEY, I’M AN ALL-STAR: The Sea Dogs will send Almanzar, LHP Drake Britton, Ranaudo and C Christian Vazquez to this year’s Eastern League All-Star Game on July 13th in New Britain, Connecticut…Almanzar and Ranaudo were selected through fan voting.

WRAPPING UP THE MONTH: INF Heiker Meneses paced the team in June with a .288 average (19-for-66)…Meneses went 4-for-6 in the New Hampshire series with 3 RBI and 2 doubles…Shaw and Thomas each hit four homers in June, Thomas led the team with 17 RBI…Britton went 3-1, 3.24 ERA (12 ER/33.1 IP) in five starts.
