‘DOGS AND ‘CATS ON FRIDAY: The Sea Dogs and New Britain Rock Cats (Twins affiliate) continue their five-game series on Friday night at Hadlock Field…Portland holds a four-game lead over the Rock Cats and Trenton Thunder for the second playoff spot in the Eastern League’s Eastern Division…This series marks the final time the two teams play in Maine…Portland travels to New Britain Stadium on July 22-24 for a four-game series in three days (July 22nd is a doubleheader).

EARLY FIREWORKS: The Sea Dogs scored four runs in the first inning, but New Britain scored the final six, beating Portland 6-4 on Independence Day at Hadlock Field…Tony Thomas gave Portland a 2-0 lead with a two-run double…After an error scored the third run, J.C. Linares added a run-scoring single…Jordan Parraz put New Britain on the board with a three-run homer off Charlie HaegerJosmil Pinto tied the game with a leadoff homer n the sixth…Miguel Sano had the game-winning RBI, nailing a pinch-hit double off losing pitcher Rafael Perez in the ninth.

NOW TIED AT THE TOP: Thomas and INF Michael Almanzar are leading the team with 53 RBI…Thomas has a multi-RBI game in four of his last six games and 15 since June 23rd…Linares has an RBI in six of his last seven starts, and is hitting .300 (3-for-10) this month.

LETS ADD ONE MORE: Early today, LHP Will Latimer was named an Eastern League All-Star, joining teammates…INF Almanzar, LHP Drake Britton, RHP Anthony Ranaudo, C Matt Spring and C Christian Vazquez…Almanzar and Ranaudo were selected through fan voting at seadogs.com.

LEADING IN MANY CATEGORIES: Ranaudo is tied with Binghamton’s RHP Logan Verrett for the most wins (8) in the Eastern League…The former standout at LSU is among the Eastern League leaders in the following categories: 4th ERA, T-1st Wins, 3rd SO, 3rd WHIP, 1st Average against, 1st winning percentage, 4th SO/PER 9 IP and 3rd Fewest Baserunners per 9 IP
