LET’S TRY IT AGAIN: The Sea Dogs and Reading Fightin Phils play game three of their series on Saturday night at Hadlock Field…Portland has lost eight straight, their longest losing streak since dropping 10 in a row on July 29-August 8, 2006…The two teams are meeting for the final time this season, the ‘Dogs can win the season series with a victory tonight…RHP Matt Barnes (4-6, 5.22 ERA) makes his fifth start of the season against Reading.

CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR: Reading scored two runs in the seventh inning, snapping a 2-2 tie, and beat the Sea Dogs 4-3 on Friday night…CF Zach Collier had the game-winning hit, launching a solo-homer off losing pitcher Anthony Ranaudo (8-3)…RF Kelly Dugan added a run-scoring single…Portland scored their runs on solo homers by Peter Hissey and Travis ShawTony Thomas provided a run-scoring groundout in the fourth…RHP David Buchanan (6-9) worked six strong innings on seven hits and two runs, earning the win for Reading…RHP Kyle Simon pitched the ninth for his seventh save of the season.

SOLID STARTS: Opposing starters are 8-0, 1.45 ERA (10 ER/62.0 IP) during the last 10 games with six quality starts…Portland’s lone win in their last 11 games was July 12th’s 8-5, 15-inning win at Binghamton…INF Ryan Dent was the winning pitcher, becoming the second position player in franchise history to earn a win…Portland has not scored first, since a 4-run first on July 4th vs. New Britain.

MORE ON ANTHONY: Ranaudo worked 6.1 IP last night, allowing nine hits, four runs, three walks and four strikeouts…The right-hander gave up his seventh homer of the season last night, but six have been to Reading.

NOE IN THE ZONE: RHP Zoe Ramirez tossed 2.2 scoreless innings last night, allowing one hit and fanning four…Ramirez hasn’t allowed a run in back-to-back outings, and has at least two strikeouts in all five outings in Double-A.

HOMER NOTES: Portland suffered their first loss when hitting two homers in a game this season (9-1)…Hissey blasted his fourth career Double-A homer, and has both of his RBI’s in the last 16 games on homers…Shaw’s last four RBI’s are on home runs…Portland had no homered twice in a game since July 2nd in game two of a twinbill (both homers by Shaw).

WHAT’S ON DECK: The Sea Dogs and Reading Fightin Phils (Phillies affiliate) meet for the final time this season tomorrow afternoon…The Sea Dogs are 11-20 during a 37-game stretch against the Eastern Division…Portland hits the road on Monday night, beginning a four-game series in three days against the Rock Cats.
