BON VOYAGE: The Sea Dogs and Reading Fightin Phils wrap up their season series on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field…Portland snapped an 8-game losing streak (longest since 2006) with last night’s win and clinched the season series over the Fightin Phils…RHP Mike McCarthy (0-3, 5.68) makes his first career appearance against Reading and his fourth start of the season (ninth appearance)…Today’s game will be televised on NESN with Lewiston, Maine native Tom Caron and former Red Sox pitcher Ken Ryan.

BARNES LED THE WAY: RHP Matt Barnes (5-6) fired a season-high seven scoreless innings on 10 strikeouts (tied Double-A high), leading the Sea Dogs to a 5-1 win over the Reading Fightin Phils on Saturday night…Barnes gave up three hits, three walks and did not allow a runner past third base…Portland beat lefty Austin Wright (3-5), scoring three runs off the lefty in 6.1 IP…Derrik Gibson broke the scoreless game in the sixth with a solo-homer over the Maine Monster…Christian Vazquez knocked in a run with a single later in the frame…Ryan Dent and Heiker Meneses had run-scoring hits in the seventh.

ENDING SOME STREAKS: Opposing starters were 8-0 in 10 starts before yesterday’s game…Portland scored the first run for the first time since taking a 4-0 lead on July 4th against New Britain…Barnes’ win was the first for a starter since LHP Drake Britton on July 3rd and the righty’s first win at Hadlock Field since May 6th against Reading.

BOTH THIS YEAR: Gibson has both of his Double-A homers this season…Last night’s home run came in Gibson’s 559th at-bat with Portland…The Delaware native’s first big fly came on April 7th against Trenton (off lefty Francisco Rondon)…Gibson is leading the team in hitting this month at .368 (14-for-38) with a homer and 4 RBI.

GIVE HIM A HIGH FIVE: OF Peter Hissey went 2-for-4 last night and extended his hitting streak to five games: 7-for-20 (.350)…Hissey has reached base safely in 46 of 58 games played…He was on the disabled list from April 25-May 5 and May 21-June 6.

INK IN THE ‘PEN: RHP Miguel Celestino worked a perfect eighth in last night’s game, recording a strikeout…Celestino is scoreless in four of his last six outings, and has recorded a strikeout in 27 of 28 appearances in Portland…The righty earned his 10th scoreless outing of the season.

WHAT’S ON DECK: The Sea Dogs and New Britain Rock Cats (Twins affiliate) open up a four-game series in three days on Monday night at New Britain Stadium with a twinbill…The Sea Dogs are 12-20 during a 37-game stretch against the Eastern Division…Portland returns home on Thursday night to host the Harrisburg Senators (Nationals affiliate).
