NICE COMEBACK: Portland trailed 5-0 after two innings, but Terry Doyle (1-3) did not allow a hit in his final five innings of work, as the ‘Dogs beat the ‘Cats 8-7…Doyle worked seven strong innings on five runs, four hits, two walks and fanned 10…The ‘Dogs tied the game in the fourth on a two-run double by Tony Thomas and a three-run shot by Ronald Bermudez…Catcher Christian Vazquez snapped a 5-5 tie in sixth with a lead-off homer off losing pitcher Blake Martin (2-2)…Garin Cecchini knocked in the final run with a single in the ninth…Bobby Lanigan worked the final two innings for his first save with Portland.
NOT EASY TO DO: The five run come-from-behind win tied for the largest comeback by Portland this season…On April 23rd, the ‘Dogs erased a 5-0 deficit after two innings to beat the Sea Dogs 9-8 at Hadlock Field…With a win today, Portland earns their 1,400th in team history.
MAGIC MIKE: INF Michael Almanzar picked up his team-leading 29th multi-hit game on Tuesday night…Almanzar is hitting .448 (13-for-29) with a homer, 6 RBI and a double over his last eight games.
TAKE THAT OLD MATES: Lanigan earned his first save of the season, working two innings against his former team on Tuesday night…The righty gave up two runs on three hits, including a lead-off homer to Miguel Sano in the eighth…Lanigan induced Sano to hit into a force out with two on to end the game.
