BACK IN PORTLAND: LHP Chris Hernandez makes his first start of the season with Portland in game two of a three-game set with the Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants affiliate) on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field…Hernandez went 3-9, 5.72 ERA (65 ER/102.1 IP) in 24 games/16 starts with Triple-A Pawtucket and appeared in 18 games with Portland last season, going 4-8, 3.13 ERA (36 ER/103.2 IP) in 18 starts…Portland trails Trenton by three games for the second playoff spot in the Eastern League’s Eastern Division.

KEPT POURING IT ON: Richmond scored in their final four at-bats and defeated the Sea Dogs 8-2 on Tuesday night in the series opener…CF Ryan Lollis homered twice and RF Jarrett Parker knocked in three runs with a solo-homer and a two-run triple…C Christian Vazquez finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, picking up his fourth straight multi-hit game…LHP Jack Snodgrass (9-4) worked 5.1 innings on five hits and one run to earn the win for Richmond…RHP Matt Barnes (5-8) was saddled with the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits over 5.2 IP…1B Mark Minicozzi went 3-for-5 and two runs scored for Richmond.

THIS MAKES THREE: LHP Franklin Morales (strained left pectoral) makes his third Major League Rehab Assignment with Portland this season…The lefty made starts in May, working two scoreless on May 8th against Reading…On May 23rd, Morales earned the win against New Hampshire, tossing five innings on six hits and one unearned run.

MORE ON MORALES: Morales is 1-1, 2.53 ERA (6 ER/21.1 IP) in eight MLB Rehab games this year with Portland, Greenville and Pawtucket…With Boston, Morales is 2-0, 7.30 ERA (10 ER/12.1 IP) in six games/one start…Portland has had 31 players (five this season) make a Major League rehab assignment and the 25as a Red Sox affiliate.

HITTIN IS CATCHING ON: Vazquez is leading the league in throwing out runners at 49%, but is hitting .353 (30-for-85) with a homer and 11 RBI since July 1st.
