LOOKING FOR NUMBER ONE: Portland has dropped all five games to Richmond this season, and concludes the season series on Thursday afternoon at Hadlock Field…Despite three straight losses, the ‘Dogs still trail the Trenton Thunder by three games for the second playoff spot in the Eastern Division…RHP Terry Doyle makes his seventh start of the season for Portland and his fourth at home…Doyle’s lone win came on July 23rd at New Britain Stadium.

BACK-TO-BACK: Richmond rallied for three runs in the ninth inning on back-to-back homers by Adam Duvall (2-run shot) and Jarrett Parker off losing pitcher Rafael Perez, and won the middle game of the series 5-3…3B Garin Cecchini went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, giving Portland a 3-2 lead in the eighth inning…The ‘Dogs had a 2-0 lead after three innings on a run-scoring single by Cecchini and a wall-ball RBI single from Michael Almanzar…Lefty Chris Hernandez worked 6.1 innings on four hits, one run, one walk and three strikeouts in his return to Portland…LHP Chris Gloor worked seven innings on seven hits and two runs for Richmond.

MAJOR HELP: LHP Franklin Morales (strained left pectoral) made his third Major League Rehab Assignment with Portland last night…The lefty worked 1+ innings, giving up one run on two hits and one strikeout…Portland has had 31 players make a Major League Rehab Assignment, including five this season.

CHANGE OF THE CALENDAR: CF Shannon Wilkerson went 2-for-4 last night with a double and two runs scored…Wilkerson is hitting .476 (10-for-21) in August with 3 RBI and 3 doubles…Almanzar has a hit streak of seven straight games, going 7-for-26 (.269) and J.C. Linares has a 5-game hitting streak: 7-for-22 (.318).

HITTING IS CATCHING ON: C Christian Vazquez is leading the league in throwing out runners at 49%, but is hitting .348 (31-for-89) with a homer and 11 RBI since July 1st.
