DAY BASEBALL AT HADLOCK: The Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) play the rubber game of their three-game series on Wednesday afternoon at Hadlock Field…Portland trails New Hampshire by 2.5 games for third place, but trails the Thunder by five games for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Division…LHP Mickey Pena (6-7, 4.00 ERA with Salem Red Sox) makes his Double-A debut for the Sea Dogs in the final meeting between the two teams this season at Hadlock Field.
FOUR WASN’T ENOUGH: Portland led 4-0 after two innings, but New Hampshire rebounded with five in third and beat the Sea Dogs 8-6 on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field…C Jack Murphy snapped a 5-5 tie, nailing a two-out, two-run double off losing pitcher LHP Eric Niesen (0-2) in the seventh…Portland scored a run in the ninth on Michael Almanzar’s RBI single, but RHP Alan Farina retired Matt Spring and Ryan Dent with the bases loaded to end the game…LF Ryan Dent with 2-for-5 with an RBI and run scored…Murphy finished 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and John Tolisano went 3-for-4.
LETS MAKE IT 10: Portland’s starters have gone at least five innings in 10 straight games…LHP Chris Hernandez tossed eight innings in the season opener, earning his first win of the season…On Sunday, RHP Keith Couch pitched the team’s first complete game in over six years.
