CLOSER TO HOME: The Sea Dogs begin the second leg of their roadtrip on Monday night against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium…After splitting a four-game series in Trenton, the ‘Dogs trail Trenton by five games for the second playoff spot in the Eastern Division, but trail New Hampshire by two games for third place…LHP Mickey Pena makes his second straight Double-A start against the Fisher Cats…Pena tossed seven scoreless in his Double-A debut on August 21st at Hadlock.

TOUGH FINISH: LF Ramon Flores delivered a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning, lifting the Thunder to a 3-2 win over the Sea Dogs on Sunday night at Arm & Hammer Park…RHP Terry Doyle (1-5) suffered the loss in his first appearance with Portland in relief…The run in the 10th was the lone run allowed by Portland’s bullpen in the series (15.1 IP)…Portland tied the game in the ninth inning on a bases-loaded walk to J.C. Linares on a 3-2 pitch…Michael Almanzar hit his 15th homer of the season and finished 2-for-5…LHP Chris Hernandez tossed six strong innings on six hits, two runs (one earned), two walks and five strikeouts.

HE HIT ‘EM BOTH: Almanzar hit both of Portland’s homers in the Trenton series – both to leadoff the second…Portland hit .261 (35-for-134) in the series, but only .220 (9-for-41) with runners-in-scoring position.

JUMPING INTO THE LEADERS: Catcher Christian Vazquez went 1-for-4 on Sunday and is now tied for 9th in the Eastern League with a .288 average…RHP Keith Couch is tied for 8th in ERA at 3.49.

SOME CLUTCH HITING: SS Deven Marrero enters tonight’s game with a Double-A high, five-game hitting streak: 5-for-21 (.238)…The former standout at Arizona State University has five of his 11 hits with runners-in-scoring position…Vazquez has the longest hitting streak this season at 12 games.

ALMOST A WHOLE ROSTER: The Sea Dogs have had 16 players promoted to Pawtucket this season: OF Ronald Bermudez, INF Xander Bogaerts, LHP Drake Britton, RHP Keith Couch, INF/OF Ryan Dent, RHP Charlie Haeger, RHP Brock Huntzinger, RHP Jeremy Kehrt, LHP Will Latimer, OF J.C.
