The Sea Dogs and Fisher Cats trail the Trenton Thunder by four games for the second playoff spot with eight games left, and continue their four-game series on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium…With a win tonight, the ‘Dogs clinch a winning record on the road.

RHP Jeremy Kerht is starting tonight instead of RHP Matt Barnes…Kehrt is 2-3, 4.27 ERA (31 ER/65.1 IP) on the season…RHP Austin Bibens-Dirx (3-4, 2.11) makes his 12th appearance of the season for New Hampshire and his first against Portland.

GOT TO HIM EARLY: Portland scored five times off losing pitcher Marcus Stroman (8-5) in the first 3 innings, and beat the Fisher Cats 9-2 on Tuesday night…LHP Henry Owens (3-0) tossed 6.2 scoreless on two hits, one walk and six strikeouts…Owens retired the final 12 batters faced…CF Shannon Wilkerson went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI, capping of the scoring with a two-run triple in the ninth…Portland received a hit from all nine starters, including a two-run double from Matt Spring (2-for-5)…2B Derrik Gibson finished 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and a run scored…LHP Rafael Perez closed out the win with a perfect ninth.

BULLPEN HAS BEEN CLUTCH: The ‘Dogs bullpen is 2-1, 1.35 ERA (3 ER/20.0 IP) during the trip, but has allowed only 6 ER over 26.1 IP (2.05 ERA) during their 16-game stretch against New Hampshire and Trenton.

HEY I’M A LEADER: C Christian Vazquez went 1-for-4 last night with a single and a walk…Vazquez is 9th in the league in hitting at .291 (95-for-327) and continues to lead the league in throwing out runners (47%).
