THIS MAKES 21: The Sea Dogs open up their 21st season at Hadlock Field on Thursday night against the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins affiliate)…Portland is 9-11 All-Time in openers at Hadlock, suffering a 13-5 loss to the Thunder last season…Tonight kicks-off a seven-game homestand – the Binghamton Mets visit Maine on Monday…Both the ‘Dogs and ‘Cats snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday night…Portland took 14 of 23 meetings from New Britain in 2013, but went 6-6 at Hadlock Field.

‘DOGS RETURN THE FAVOR: One night after losing 10-1, the Sea Dogs collected a season-high 14 hits in a 9-2 win over the Thunder…LHP Henry Owens earned his second straight win, tossing 6.2 scoreless on six hits, no walks and nine strikeouts…CF Shannon Wilkerson picked up a season-high 3 hits, knocking in two runs…2B Sean Coyle and 3B Travis Shaw each had 2 RBI…DH Mookie Betts and SS Deven Marrero added two hits and each stole a base…C Gary Sanchez knocked in Trenton’s two runs with a two-out double off reliever Matty Ott.

ON A ROLL: Owens has fanned nine batters in each start this season, hurling 12.2 scoreless frames…The lefty’s no-hitter on Opening Night was the first as a Red Sox affiliate and the first complete-game (six innings) no-hitter in franchise history…Owens is 5-1, 1.26 ERA (6 ER/43.0 IP) in eight Double-A starts (2013-14).

GIVE HIM A HIGH FIVE: Wilkerson has hit safely in five straight games, picking up his first 2 RBI last night…Betts has reached base safely in all six games, making his first start as the DH in the roadtrip finale…RHP Jose Valdez tossed a scoreless inning of relief and did not allow a run in both outings on the trip.

GRABBING AN EXTRA BAG: Portland stole four bases last night after having just one steal in the first 5 games…Trenton is the only team in the Eastern League without a stolen base attempt…The Richmond Flying Squirrels lead the league with nine steals in 10 attempts…New Britain is four of five in stolen base attempts.

NOT MANY: Michael Brenly had a pinch-hit single last night and appeared in left field for the first time in his professional career…Brenly made his debut in the Red Sox system on Tuesday night, going 0-for-4 as the designated hitter…Coyle nailed his first double of the season on Wednesday, making his first start at second base.
