The Sea Dogs are 7-1 on their nine-game homestand, which ends tonight against the Binghamton Mets at Hadlock Field…Portland swept a twinbill from the B-Mets last night and improved to 17-6 at Hadlock Field…The ‘Dogs are seeking their fifth straight win at home.

LHP Mickey Pena is 2-0, 4.86 ERA and makes his 9th start of the season, but his first against Binghamton…RHP Rainy Lara is 4-1, but that one loss is to Portland.

NUMBER NINE TONIGHT: The Sea Dogs are 7-1 on their nine-game homestand which ends tonight against the Binghamton Mets…Portland swept their second doubleheader of the season on Wednesday night and improved to 15 games over .500 for the first time since July 16, 2006 (54-39) – the ‘Dogs best record that season was 19 games over .500…LHP Mickey Pena makes his first career start against the Binghamton Mets…RHP Rainy Lara suffered his lone loss to Portland on May 4th at NYSEG Stadium.

COUCH CG AND A NICE RALLY: RHP Keith Couch (6-0) hurled his fifth career complete-game in the opener, as the Sea Dogs grabbed a 5-1 win…3B Stefan Welch provided the game-winning hit with a first inning three-run homer…1B Travis Shaw hit a solo-shot (#9) to lead-off the third…Couch yielded nine hits and got the help of three double plays…In game two, the ‘Dogs scored the final six runs, including a five-run fifth to beat the Mets 6-5…With two outs, C Mike Brenly cut the lead to 5-4 with a RBI single…LF Peter Hissey followed with a two-run single to right…LHP Robby Scott earned his sixth win of the season.

UNREAL RUN: Scott has earned a win in four straight outings and is tied with Couch for the Eastern League in wins (6)…Couch improved to 17-3, 3.12 ERA (64 ER/184.1 IP) in 38 games/24 starts…As a starter: 14-1, 2.76 ERA (44 ER/143.2 IP)…His 2.39 ERA is the fourth best in the Eastern League…Scott has not allowed a run this month and is scoreless in 10 of his first 11 Double-A appearances.

SOMEBODY SAVE ME:RHP Jose Valdez made it 2-for-2 in save chances on the homestand…Portland has converted all five save opportunities on the homestand, and has compiled a 1.97 ERA.

OVER AND OUT: Welch belted his second homer of the season in game one and finished the twinbill 3-for-6, HR, 5 RBI and a double…Shaw hit his 9th homer of the season, which ties him with Trenton’s Kyle Roller for the third most in the Eastern League…Portland is second in the league in average at .287, but lead the league in runs with 280…Their 33 homers is tied for third with Harrisburg, New Britain and Trenton.

NEW GUY: RHP Wilfredo Boscan made his Sea Dogs debut in last night’s game…Boscan started game two and worked three innings on six hits, five runs (one earned), three walks and one strikeout.
