Last night was really cool at Fenway Park to see Mookie Betts makes his Fenway debut…Despite not getting a hit, there was a hard hit ball off Jake Arrieta, and just seeing him up there is special…It was also nice seeing Anthony Rizzo (former Sea Dog) in town with the Cubs.
Red Sox make moves…Couldn’t be any happier for Rich Hill on getting a chance to pitch out of the Angels bullpen…He was traded earlier today…Also, Michael Almanzar was returned to Boston. Chris Resop was released from Pawtucket’s roster.

THAT WAS NUMBER ONE: Portland dropped their first game of the roadtrip on Monday night, and continues their four-game series at Trenton on Tuesday at Arm & Hammer Park…The Sea Dogs finished June 16-10, hitting .277 (233-for-841) with a 3.81 ERA (94 ER/220.0 IP)…LHP Henry Owens’ career 2.13 ERA with Portland is the best in team history, surpassing Jon Lester’s 2.57 in his previous outing…Owens leads the league in ERA (2.25), strikeouts (95), CG (3), SHO (2), WHIP (1.04) AVG (.181) and SO-PER 9 IP (9.3).
THUNDERSTRUCK TWICE: Trenton scored both runs with two outs on RBI singles from Peter O’Brien and Casey Stevenson, taking the series opener 2-0 on Monday night…LHP Eric Wooten (3-3) tossed 6.1 innings on five hits, two walks and four strikeouts to notch the win…RHP Luis Diaz (2-1) suffered the tough luck loss, giving up both runs on five hits over 6 IP…Portland finished 1-for-10 with runners-in-scoring position, receiving two of five hits from C Blake Swihart…LHP Tyler Webb worked a perfect ninth to earn his sixth save of the year…RHP Noe Ramirez pitched two perfect frames for Portland.

WHAT A MONTH:OF/INF Derrik Gibson hit .404 (36-for-89) in June with a homer, 11 RBI, 9 doubles, triple, 14 walks and reached base safely 54 times…Gibson set the June franchise record with a .505 on-base percentage (4th best in the minors)…During the roadtrip, Gibson has reached base safely 17 times in five games…Former Thunder INF Rob Refsynder hit .411 in June for Triple-A Scranton, the third best average in the minors for June.
MORE ON OWENS: In his last six starts, Owens is 6-0, 1.08 ERA (5 ER/41.2 IP), and has not lost since May 19th vs. Binghamton (game one of a doubleheader)…Trenton beat Owens on April 27th at Hadlock Field, scoring six times (season-high in runs allowed) on nine hits over 5 innings pitched.
HOW ABOUT THE OTHER LEFTY: LHP Brian Johnson (7-1, 2.67 ERA) makes his 11th Double-A start tomorrow night…Johnson went 4-0 with a 1.13 ERA (4th best among all minor league pitchers) in June…Portland is a combined 20-5 in starts made by Johnson and Owens this season.
