NOT MANY LEFT: The Sea Dogs open up a three-game series with the Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants affiliate) on Tuesday night from the Diamond in Richmond, Virginia…Portland has won four straight road games, sweeping the Rock Cats at New Britain Stadium from July 22-24…The ‘Dogs need wins in their final two games this month to finish 15-15 in July…Richmond has dropped 34 of 55 since June 1st…RHP Anthony Ranaudo seeks his first win since June 30th at New Hampshire.
THAT’S A SPLIT: Portland won the final two games against Harrisburg, managing a split of the four-game series after Sunday’s 3-2 win…Catcher Matt Spring hit his fourth game-winning homer of the season, leading off the seventh with a solo-blast over the Maine Monster, and snapping a 2-2 tie…Jeremy Kehrt earned his first win, tossing two innings on two hits and one run…Noe Ramirez worked the final two innings, securing his second straight save…RHP Nathan Karns (7-4) tossed a complete game in the loss, giving up five hits and three runs over eight frames.
MAJOR INFLUENCE: Portland will face Major League Ryan Vogelsong in the series opener…Vogelsong is currently on the Giants 60-day disabled list with a fractured right hand…The righty is 2-4, 7.19 ERA (37 ER/46.1 IP) in nine starts with San Francisco this season.
NO WIN AT HADLOCK: RHP Terry Doyle took a no-decision in Sunday’s game and remains winless at Hadlock Field…Doyle pitched five innings, giving up eight hits, one run, three walks and four strikeouts…Harrisburg had 17 baserunners on Sunday, but went 3-for-13 with runner-in-scoring position.
MAKE THAT TWO FOR TWO: LHP Matt Maloney earned a win in his Sea Dogs’ debut on July 24th at New Britain and earned the save by working around two singles with two outs in the ninth on Saturday at Fenway Park…The lefty was on Pawtucket’s disabled all season until he was activated by Portland – he appeared in 5 minor league rehab games with Lowell.
THREE QUARTERS TO A GRAND: With a win tonight, the Sea Dogs will have 750 as a Red Sox affiliate…Saturday’s win at the 8th Annual Future’s at Fenway was their third in four games at Fenway Park.
WHAT’S ON DECK: Portland and Richmond continue their three-game series on Wednesday night…The Sea Dogs are 2-2 during a 22-game stretch against the Western Division (8-11 overall)…Portland finishes the season with 16 straight games against New Hampshire and Trenton, including a doubleheader on August 31st.

‘DOGS AND ‘CATS: The Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats play game three of their four-game series on Saturday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium…Portland’s last series win came on May 20-23 at Hadlock Field, taking three of four from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats…If Portland wins the final two games of this series, they will have their first road-series win since April 30-May 2, sweeping a three-game series in Reading…RHP Matt Barnes makes his 40th career start and his third against New Hampshire.
QUITE A BATTER: Knuckleballer Charlie Haeger (4-4) tossed eight scoreless frames and Catcher Christian Vazquez went 4-for-5, as the Sea Dogs beat the Fisher Cats 5-1 on Friday night…Haeger scattered seven hits, fanned seven and didn’t issue a walk for the first time since a MLB Rehab start in 2010 with the Arizona Dodgers…Vazquez knocked in the game’s first run with a single in the fourth and nailed an RBI double in the eighth…SS Heiker Meneses went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI…Michael Almanzar finished 3-for-4 with a run-scoring double in the ninth.
TURNING THINGS AROUND: Vazquez has raised his average 25 points, going 7-for-12 during a 3-game hitting streak…The Portland catcher has both 4-hit games with the Sea Dogs against the Fisher Cats (last night and May 22nd)…Meneses has a 5-game hitting streak: 9-for-17 (.529), HR, 3 RBI.
NEW ARM IN THE MIX: RHP Noe Ramirez was assigned to Portland today from High-A Salem and will be making his Double-A debut…Ramirez went 2-1, 2.11 ERA (11 ER/47.0) with one save in 21 games with the Salem Sox and had a strikeout in 19 of 21 appearances…Both wins against Myrtle Beach in back-to-back outings (May 31 & June 3).
HEY, I’M AN ALL-STAR: The Sea Dogs will send Almanzar, Britton, RHP Anthony Ranaudo and Vazquez to this year’s Eastern League All-Star Game on July 13th in New Britain, Connecticut…Almanzar and Ranaudo were selected through fan voting.
