‘DOGS AND ‘CATS PART 3: The Sea Dogs and Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) play the rubber game of their three-game series on Thursday night at Hadlock Field…With last night’s win, the Sea Dogs moved back into a tie for the top spot in the Eastern Division with the Binghamton Mets…Left-hander Drake Britton makes his 27th career Double-A appearance, he is 1-1, 3.00 ERA in 4 career starts against New Hampshire…Righty Marcus Walden is 2-0, 1.32 ERA (2 ER/13.2 IP) in two starts against Portland this season.

AN EIGHT SPOT: Portland scored eight runs with nobody out during the first 2 innings and beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 9-1 on Wednesday night…Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with 2 homers and 5 RBI…Anthony Ranaudo (6-1) was perfect in six of seven innings, allowing just a lead-off single to Ryan Schimpf in the second…Ranaudo fanned eight over a career-high 7 IP…J.C. Linares had three hits and 3 RBI, nailing a two-run double off the Maine Monster in the second…Michael Almanzar finished 3-for-4 with a sacrifice-fly in the eighth.

NOW I’M IN THEIR CLASS: Ranaudo became the league’s third 6-game winner, joining Mike Wright (Bowie) and Logan Verrett (Binghamton)…The righty is leading the E.L. in ERA (1.48), WHIP (0.84) and second in average against (.165)…Bogaerts tied career highs with 2 homers and 5 RBI.

WELCOME BACK TO THE PARTY: Linares had not played since May 16th (on the disabled list) and established season highs in hits and RBI…Shannon Wilkerson extended his season-high hitting streak to six straight: 9-for-25 (.360)…INF/OF Kolbrin Vitek went 1-for-3 with a double last night and  has hit safely in 3 of his last 4 games, going 4-for-14 (.286), RBI and a double.

BEEN CLUTCH: Portland pitchers have held the opposition 3-for-38 (.079) with runners-in-scoring position over the last six games…New Hampshire is hitting just .221 with RISP and .186 with RISP and two outs…The Sea Dogs are hitting .267 with runners-in-scoring position but hitting .300 (18-for-60) over the last six games.

NICE TO WIN AT HOME: With last night’s win, the Sea Dogs clinched a winning record at home this month…Portland will play just 11 games at Hadlock Field in June.

WHAT’S ON DECK: Portland begins a 15-game stretch against the Western Division on Friday night against the Altoona Curve (Pirates affiliate), beginning a three-game series over the weekend…The ‘Dogs are 7-9 during a 17-game stretch against New Hampshire and Binghamton.

‘DOGS AND ‘CATS PART 3: The Sea Dogs and Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) continue their three-game series on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field…With last night’s loss, Portland is now in second place for the first time since they were a ½ game out on April 26th…The ‘Dogs have lost four straight for the first time since a five-game losing streak from July 1-4, 2012…Right-hander Anthony Ranaudo, who leads the Eastern League in ERA (1.70), makes his 10th start of the season for Portland.

‘CATS WIN IN EXTRA’S: The Fisher Cats used a three-run 11th inning to beat the Sea Dogs 6-3 on Tuesday night in the series opener…Adam Loewen snapped a 3-3 tie, blasting a solo-homer off losing pitcher Keith Couch (3-2) to start the inning…Kevin Pillar nailed a run-scoring triple and Kevin Nolan added an RBI single…Xander Bogaerts and Shannon Wilkerson each went 2-for-5 with an RBI…Matt Barnes took a no-decision, but earned his 5th quality start…Barnes worked six innings on four hits, three runs, one walk and four strikeouts.

SHUTTING THEM DOWN: Portland pitchers had retired 16 straight batters until Loewen’s homer in the 11thMiguel Celestino put together his best Double-A outing, working two perfect innings…Lefty Rafael Perez pitched a 1-2-3 ninth and Couch allowed three runs on three hits over 2 IP…New Hampshire’s Randy Boone earned the win for the ‘Cats, firing three scoreless frames on a walk and two strikeouts…Joel Carreno notched his 7th save of the season.

GIVE HIM A HIGH-FIVE: With two hits last night, Wilkerson has his second 5-game hitting streak this season, going 7-for-20 (.350)…Catcher Matt Spring has all five homers this month, including a career-high 6 RBI on May 18th vs. Binghamton…Barnes’ fifth quality start leads the staff.

AMONG THE PITCHING LEADERS: Right-hander Brandon Workman tied a season-high with nine strikeouts on Monday afternoon in Binghamton…Workman leads the Eastern League with 69 strikeouts…Ranaudo is the league leader in ERA, WHIP (0.94) and second in average against (.181)…Tony Thomas is pacing the league in extra-base hits (25) and triples (6)…Travis Shaw’s 36 walks is tied for first with Binghamton’s Daniel Muno and Josh Rodriguez and New Hampshire’s Ryan Schimpf.
