The Sea Dogs continue their six-game roadtrip on Saturday night against the Richmond Flying Squirrels from The Diamond in Richmond, VA…Portland snapped a five-game losing streak on the road with last night’s 4-2 win over the Flying Squirrels…The ‘Dogs are 8-8 during a 21-game stretch against the Western Division.

LHP Jesse Carlson released by the Boston Red Sox…Carlson appeared in one game with Portland, allowing five hits and three runs in one inning pitched on June 12th at Bowie.

INF Bryan Johns assigned to Low-A Greenville…Johns went 1-for-7 in two games with Portland, picking up his first Double-A hit (single) last night with one-out in the fifth inning.

RHP Chris Martin has been activated from the disabled list and will start tonight’s game in Richmond, VA…Martin is 3-3, 5.27 ERA (24 ER/41.0 IP) in 10 games/8 starts this season with the Sea Dogs.
INF Marquez Smith had his contract from the Camden Riversharks (Atlantic League) purchased by the Boston Red Sox

Marquez Smith was signed by the Red Sox today from the Camden Riversharks (Atlantic League)…Smith hit .278 with Triple-A Iowa (Cubs affiliate) last season.

and assigned to Portland…Smith was originally an 8th round pick by the Chicago Cubs in the 2007 draft out of Clemson University, and began the season with Pirates de Campeche of the Mexican League (May 1-13), hitting .261 (12-for-46) with a homer and 6 RBI in 12 games…With the Camden Riversharks, Smith hit .363 (33-for-91) with 3 homers and 20 RBI.
