Hot Stove Dinner

In minor league baseball there’s so many special dates during the season, but without a doubt, the annual Hot Stove Dinner is one of my favorites.   This Friday at the Sable Oaks Marriott in South Portland, Maine, the fans will get treated to a terrific program and a Silent Auction to benefit the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

Guest list: Sea Dogs personal…Manager Kevin Boles, Hitting coach Rich Gedman and pitcher Mike MacDonald (first Mainer to ever play for the Sea Dogs).  The trio will join former Red Sox outfielder Trot Nixon and former Sea Dog and current Oakland Athletic Josh Reddick.

Doors openat 5:30 PM with the Silent Auction running from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. A buffet dinner will be served at 6:30 PM and the program will begin at 7:00 PM. Everyone who attends will receive an autographed 8 X 10 photo of Nixon.

Auction Highlights: The opportunity to watch three innings of a Red Sox game from inside the Green Monster. Additionally, the lucky bidder will receive four grandstand tickets and will be able to watch batting practice from the warning track at Fenway Park. This once in a lifetime opportunity was donated by the Boston Red Sox.

Broadcasting Live: I’ll be guest-hosting the PM Jab on 96.3 FM in Portland, Maine with Javier Gorriti…We’ll do the show outside the main dinning hall. Stop by between 3 and 6.

Gedman was part of the 1986 Red Sox, one of the greatest Sox teams in franchise history.
